BFFT’s summer internship gives college students the opportunity to serve alongside our team, experience cross-cultural ministry, and contribute to a project aligned with their academic or career interests that is determined before they arrive. Interns also participate in the daily life of BFFT, build relationships with women and children in our program, and grow personally, professionally, and spiritually.

Transform Your Faith and Your Future Career
Spend six weeks in Kenya gaining hands-on professional experience, serving others, and discovering what it means to live and work in another culture.
Building Families For Tomorrow's summer internship gives college students the opportunity to serve alongside our team in Kitale, Kenya, while contributing their skills to meaningful work that supports women and children affected by incarceration.
This is more than a mission trip. It is an opportunity to serve, learn, grow, and gain practical experience related to your future career.
An Internship Designed Around You
Before traveling to Kenya, each intern will work with BFFT to identify a specific project based on their academic studies, skills, and career interests.
Depending on your field of study, projects might involve areas such as business, marketing, communications, social work, education, counseling, nonprofit management, ministry, or other areas that support BFFT's mission.
Your project will be defined before you arrive so you can come prepared to make a meaningful contribution during your six weeks in Kenya.
What You'll Experience
During your internship, you'll work alongside BFFT's Kenyan staff and experience the day-to-day life of an international nonprofit. You'll have opportunities to:
Complete a hands-on project connected to your academic or career interests.
Learn about nonprofit and cross-cultural ministry in an international setting.
Build relationships with BFFT staff, women, and children.
Experience Kenyan culture and community life.
Develop leadership, communication, problem-solving, and cross-cultural skills.
Grow spiritually through service, relationships, and Christ-centered mentorship.
Where You'll Stay
Interns stay at the Building Families For Tomorrow Center in Kitale, Kenya, giving you the opportunity to become part of the BFFT community rather than simply visiting it.
Living on-site provides a unique perspective on BFFT's whole-family restoration model and the opportunity to see firsthand how women leaving prison rebuild their lives, reunite with their children, develop vocational and business skills, and work toward independence.
Who Should Apply?
The internship is designed for college students who are curious, adaptable, willing to serve, and interested in using their education and talents to make a difference.
You don't need to have international experience. You do need to be willing to learn, work alongside others, respect cultural differences, and approach the experience with flexibility and humility.
Six Weeks That Can Shape What Comes Next
You may come to Kenya expecting to use what you've learned in college.
You may return home having learned just as much about yourself—your faith, your abilities, your future career, and the ways your gifts can be used to serve others.
Come prepared to contribute. Come prepared to learn. Come prepared to be changed.
