A Mother's Time in Prison Shouldn't Define Her Child's Future
When mothers are incarcerated in Kenya, their children often lose stable homes, education, and protection.
When these women are released, they face stigma, unemployment, and few opportunities to rebuild their lives.
Building Families For Tomorrow takes a whole-family approach to restoration. We care for children affected by their mothers' incarceration while equipping women with the skills, support, and opportunities they need to rebuild their lives.
How Family Restoration Happens
Step 1
Identify Mothers Preparing for Release
Working alongside the Kenya Prison Service, BFFT identifies women who are committed to rebuilding their lives and preparing for a new beginning after prison..
Step 2
Care for Children of Incarcerated Mothers
Children receive safe housing, food, education, healthcare, and emotional support while their mothers complete their sentences.
Step 3
Restore and Reunite Families
After release, mothers enter a six-month residential restoration program that includes counseling, biblical discipleship, life-skills training, vocational education, and family reunification.
Step 4
Build Independent Lives
Women receive business training and transitional support as they establish homes, launch small businesses, support their children, and move toward lasting independence.
By restoring mothers and strengthening families, BFFT is helping break generational cycles of poverty and incarceration in Kenya.

Today, her story demonstrates what can happen when restoration reaches beyond one individual to strengthen an entire family. Watch Judith’s story below.
